Toyin Akinmusuru WPATX eCommerce Meetup

Notes From The February 26, 2018, Austin WordPress eCommerce Meetup

After several years preparing large sites with popular e-commerce systems for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Toyin Akinmusuru got sick of the ongoing scaling headaches and started experimenting and find a better approach.

Just like running WordPress as a headless CMS allows increased flexibility and creativity in the presentation of websites, a headless WooCommerce implementation allows e-commerce transactions to operate at higher scale.

We will discuss ideal situations in which one might want to take this approach, and the different methods to achieve scale and the benefits and tradeoffs related to these approaches. In addition, we will discuss how to use Siege, Blitz.io, and other automated testing systems to benchmark this approach compared to conventional WooCommerce implementations.

52 WPATX members showed up with laptops and their questions. The lively Q&A demonstrated that our members were not going to miss this great opportunity to ask WooCommerce questions from one of the most respected e-commerce developers in our community.

We would like to thank the Capital Factory for providing our goop with the 16th floor Antone’s classroom located for our meetup and Liquid Web is our latest sponsor and are generously providing Pizza and soft drinks for our eCommerce meetup.
