Austin WordPress Meetup – 5/9/11 – Security FAQs
What was the name of the Backup Plugin Nick used in the Demo?
As Nick mentioned during his WordPress Security Demonstration that although some folks consider regular backups a function of WordPress Administration, he considers frequent site backups a critical WordPress Security Best Practice.
Nick strongly recommend that you install a plugin or use cronjob to create database and file backups on a regular basis. This process may not be directly related to security, but in case you detect intrusion, you will be glad you have a recent backup to restore your site.
Nick personally likes BackWPup, but he noted that based on the number of questions about the process of backing up WordPress sites, he will be demonstrating and reviewing other backup plugins at future Austin WordPress Meetups.
